Imports of seafood from Fujian province rose by more than 80% to 26,000 tons in January

    Fujian province imported 26,000 tons of seafood in January, which is 87.2%  more than the same period in the previous year, according to Xiamen customs.

    Among them, ASEAN and Taiwan area are the main sources of seafood import in Fujian province. In January, Fujian province imported 8,125 tons of seafood from ASEAN and 6,540 tons from Taiwan area, which is 38.3% and 52.2% increased, respectively. These 2 area constituted 57.5%of the total volume of marine product import. In addition, imports from India surged to 5,649 tons, which is 21.3 times more than the previous year.

    Frozen fish is the main import species. In January, Fujian province imported 12,000 tons of frozen fish, which is 1.4 times more than the previous year, accounting for nearly 50% of total seafood imports in the same period.
